Whistle Surfer

Goal of the game

In Whistle Surfer you play with the pitch of your voice (hum low or high). Your surfer rides a giant wave. Whistle or hum: a higher note carries the surfer up the wave, a lower note brings them down. Collect 🐚 shells and 🌟 stars, avoid 🦈 sharks and 🪨 rocks.

Each run in Whistle Surfer lasts until you lose your 3 lives, so the real goal is to survive longer and beat your own best score.

Quick start

Whistle Surfer in one line: Whistle or hum to ride the wave up and down — grab shells, dodge sharks!

• Play your first run of Whistle Surfer slowly to learn how it reacts to the pitch of your voice (hum low or high).

Controls explained

• Quick reminder shown in Whistle Surfer: 🎵 Higher note = up the wave.
• Hum or sing: low notes and high notes map to different positions in Whistle Surfer, so practise sliding between them.
• Use the sensitivity slider if Whistle Surfer reacts to background noise or misses your voice.
• If Whistle Surfer feels too hard at first, play a practice round to learn the timing before chasing a high score.

Scoring and levels

You start with 3 lives. Your best score is saved in your browser, and signed-in players also appear on the Whistle Surfer leaderboard.

Tips and strategy

• Stay near the centre in Whistle Surfer; it gives you the most room to dodge in either direction.
• Don't chase every pickup in Whistle Surfer — grab only the ones on your safe path.
• Play Whistle Surfer in a quiet room, then try it at a party — the louder the crowd, the funnier it gets.
• Replay Whistle Surfer a few times: each run teaches you the patterns, and scores usually double after the first five games.

Device requirements and privacy

Whistle Surfer needs a microphone — the one built into your phone, laptop or headset is enough. Allow microphone access when asked; the sound is analysed live in your browser and never uploaded. It is free to play; free players may see a short ad between rounds (never during play), and Premium removes all ads.
