How to play Sonar Sub
Sonar Sub is a free voice controlled game you can play online with no download. Hum low to dive and high to rise — steer your submarine through a minefield! Because you play with sound instead of buttons, Sonar Sub is great for parties, kids and streamers, and every round takes only a minute or two.
Open Sonar Sub and allow microphone access when your browser asks (the front camera is only used as a live background and is optional).
Controls
- Make a sound (shout, hum, sing or clap) to trigger the main action.
- Louder or longer sounds give a stronger action; silence lets go.
- Use the sensitivity slider at the bottom if the game reacts too much or too little.
Tips
- Play in a quiet room first, then raise the sensitivity for noisy places.
- Short, sharp sounds give the most precise timing.
- Grab power-ups such as shields and slow motion to survive the hard waves.

Sonar Sub game guide
Goal of the game
In Sonar Sub you play with the pitch of your voice (hum low or high). Pilot a little yellow submarine through the deep. HUM a LOW note to DIVE and a HIGH note to RISE. Collect glowing fish for points, swim through sonar rings for bonuses, and steer clear of the spiky red mines and chasing piranhas.
Grab Shield, Slow-Mo and Extra Life power-ups. Use the 🎚️ sensitivity slider if your hum is not picked up.

Scoring and levels
Points in Sonar Sub come from the code-defined rewards of 30 points for different actions, so the bigger moves are worth chasing. Every 300 points you reach a new level, and Sonar Sub speeds up and sends more at you each time. You start with 3 lives. Your best score is saved in your browser, and signed-in players also appear on the Sonar Sub leaderboard.
Power-ups
Power-up orbs appear every few seconds in Sonar Sub. Touch or collect them to activate:
- 🛡️ Shield (10 s): blocks the next hit so a mistake does not cost a life.
- ⏳ Slow-Mo (6 s): slows the whole game down so you can line up precise moves.
- ❤️ Extra Life: adds one life (up to six).
- 2️⃣ Double Points (10 s): doubles every point you earn while it lasts.
Characters and world
The 3D world of Sonar Sub features fish clowns, fish tangs, fish browns, bombs and sharks. Learning how each one moves is the key to reading the screen quickly.
Tips and strategy
- Don't chase every pickup in Sonar Sub — grab only the ones on your safe path.
- Save your focus for the moment a Freeze or Slow-Mo starts — that is when Sonar Sub gives you free points.
- With a Shield active, play aggressively in Sonar Sub; the next mistake is free.
- Play Sonar Sub in a quiet room, then try it at a party — the louder the crowd, the funnier it gets.
- Replay Sonar Sub a few times: each run teaches you the patterns, and scores usually double after the first five games.
Device requirements and privacy
Sonar Sub needs a microphone — the one built into your phone, laptop or headset is enough. Allow microphone access when asked; the sound is analysed live in your browser and never uploaded. It is free to play; free players may see a short ad between rounds (never during play), and Premium removes all ads.
