Hum Racer

Goal of the game

In Hum Racer you play with the pitch of your voice (hum low or high). Steer your race car with your voice pitch: hum LOW = left lane, MEDIUM = middle, HIGH = right lane. Dodge traffic, grab ⛽ fuel cans. Silence keeps your lane.

Each run in Hum Racer lasts until you lose your 3 lives, so the real goal is to survive longer and beat your own best score.

• Tap Allow when the browser asks for the microphone, then read the short tutorial card.
• Play your first run of Hum Racer slowly to learn how it reacts to the pitch of your voice (hum low or high).
• After a game over, press Play again to try to beat your best.

Controls explained

• Quick reminder shown in Hum Racer: 🎵 Hum low = left · high = right.
• Hum or sing: low notes and high notes map to different positions in Hum Racer, so practise sliding between them.
• Use the sensitivity slider if Hum Racer reacts to background noise or misses your voice.
• If Hum Racer feels too hard at first, play a practice round to learn the timing before chasing a high score.

Scoring and levels

Points in Hum Racer come from the code-defined rewards of 10 and 25 points for different actions, so the bigger moves are worth chasing. You start with 3 lives. Your best score is saved in your browser, and signed-in players also appear on the Hum Racer leaderboard.

Tips and strategy

• Stay near the centre in Hum Racer; it gives you the most room to dodge in either direction.
• Don't chase every pickup in Hum Racer — grab only the ones on your safe path.
• Play Hum Racer in a quiet room, then try it at a party — the louder the crowd, the funnier it gets.
• Replay Hum Racer a few times: each run teaches you the patterns, and scores usually double after the first five games.

Device requirements and privacy

Hum Racer needs a microphone — the one built into your phone, laptop or headset is enough. Allow microphone access when asked; the sound is analysed live in your browser and never uploaded. It is free to play; free players may see a short ad between rounds (never during play), and Premium removes all ads.
