Hum Crane

Goal of the game

In Hum Crane you play with the pitch of your voice (hum low or high). A port crane carries a cargo crate over the harbour. HUM a LOW note to move it LEFT and a HIGH note to move it RIGHT. STOP humming to DROP the crate.

Land it on the moving cargo ship to score — stack 5 crates and the ship sails off for a big bonus! Crates that miss the ship splash into the sea and cost a life. Seagulls can knock a falling crate away. Power-ups: Magnet (crates steer onto the ship), Slow-Mo, Double, Heart and Shield. Tune the 🎚️ sensitivity slider for your room.

Controls explained

• Quick reminder shown in Hum Crane: 🎵 Hum LOW = left · HIGH = right · stop = DROP.
• Hum or sing: low notes and high notes map to different positions in Hum Crane, so practise sliding between them.
• Use the sensitivity slider if Hum Crane reacts to background noise or misses your voice.
• If Hum Crane feels too hard at first, play a practice round to learn the timing before chasing a high score.

Scoring and levels

Points in Hum Crane come from the code-defined rewards of 50 points for different actions, so the bigger moves are worth chasing. Perfectly timed or perfectly placed moves earn bonus points in Hum Crane. Every 400 points you reach a new level, and Hum Crane speeds up and sends more at you each time. You start with 3 lives. Your best score is saved in your browser, and signed-in players also appear on the Hum Crane leaderboard.

Power-ups

Power-up orbs appear every few seconds in Hum Crane. Touch or collect them to activate:

• 🧲 Magnet (9 s): pulls nearby coins and pickups toward you.
• ⏳ Slow-Mo (6 s): slows the whole game down so you can line up precise moves.
• 2️⃣ Double Points (10 s): doubles every point you earn while it lasts.
• ❤️ Extra Life: adds one life (up to six).
• 🛡️ Shield (10 s): blocks the next hit so a mistake does not cost a life.

Characters and world

The 3D world of Hum Crane features ship pirate mediums, crates, pigeons and crate strongs. Learning how each one moves is the key to reading the screen quickly.

Tips and strategy

• Stay near the centre in Hum Crane; it gives you the most room to dodge in either direction.
• Save your focus for the moment a Freeze or Slow-Mo starts — that is when Hum Crane gives you free points.
• With a Shield active, play aggressively in Hum Crane; the next mistake is free.
• Play Hum Crane in a quiet room, then try it at a party — the louder the crowd, the funnier it gets.
• Replay Hum Crane a few times: each run teaches you the patterns, and scores usually double after the first five games.

Device requirements and privacy

Hum Crane needs a microphone — the one built into your phone, laptop or headset is enough. Allow microphone access when asked; the sound is analysed live in your browser and never uploaded. It is free to play; free players may see a short ad between rounds (never during play), and Premium removes all ads.
